After a somewhat shaky month of March the Clippers are starting to find their rhythm and are building up the momentum needed to keep them rolling in the long haul of the Playoffs. The Minnesota Timberwolves on the other hand are struggling plenty just to stay healthy and quite simply just couldn’t wait any longer for this demanding season to be over so that they can get the rest that their team so badly needs. This holds well particularly now that they really don’t have anything else to fight for. After dropping a 95-82 game at home the shorthanded Timberwolves are now officially out of the Playoffs contention although, to be fair with them, they’ve been out of the conversation for quite a while now Rajabandot.
Perhaps since they loss Ricky Rubio back in march 9th with season ending torn ligaments on his right knee, as if that was not enough, they were playing without All-Star Kevin Love, who missed the game with a concussion suffered on Wednesday against the Denver Nuggets. But that was just the latest in a long line of injuries that derailed a once promising season for the Timberwolves. Minnesota was also playing without Luke Ridnour (who’s been suffering with an ankle injury) and Wayne Ellington (who’s back spasms are not improving), but that didn’t keep the Timberwolves from showing the Clippers that they would have to put up a fight if they wanted to take this win on the road. The Clippers, on the other hand are quite excited with taking a win in whatever fashion they can. Blake Griffin’s squad began the game 1½ games behind the LA Lakers for the third seed in the Western Conference. It’s not a bad spot at all but they do have to remember that the Memphis Grizzlies are just a ½ game behind and they just can’t take any chances of getting caught.
At the end thanks to a brilliant performance from Blake Griffin with his 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Caron Butler 17 to take the game. Mo Williams chipped in with 14 points and five assists to keep the Clippers rolling. It’s been quite a relief to get some good games lately. Things got ugly in March. They lost eight of 11 games and were sliding down Western Conference standings with every matchup. But things took a turn for the better and they’ve got back in winning shape right in time. As the end of the season gets in sight the Clippers have managed to win 10 of their last 12 games. For the Timberwolves Michael Beasley had 14 points and 10 rebounds and J.J. Barea had 10 points and 11 assists for the Timberwolves, who have lost eight straight games. But it would be the visiting team making the best performance of the night and taking advantage of the ill-fated squad. “It felt great. The team was in a great rhythm so I just didn’t want to mess up the rhythm the team was playing with,” Williams said in the postgame conference. “I just wanted to step right in and do whatever I can to help the team.”
